High School Athletics - No Pass No Play In The News Again In Des Moines

Des Moines Roosevelt High School Wrestler
Makes Public Personal E-mail Exchange

A Des Moines school board member said Tuesday that he doesn't regret using a sexually explicit term in an e-mail to a student.

Last week, a sophomore from Roosevelt High School sent a letter to the school board asking for help in getting back on the wrestling team after he failed an advanced placement algebra class. In response, Narcisse e-mailed the boy and told him to "step it up" academically.

Narcisse also told the boy a story about a student he once knew who didn't step it up and ended up on a Des Moines street corner offering "oral sex" for money.

Note: Before the sanctimonious get all excited, there is a lot worse language that has gone on in the Roosevelt Wrestling room and in their locker room. Des Moines Roosevelt High School even has an officially school sponsored gay support group for those engaging in such acts. The boy is not the first or last academically ineligible athlete that has been on the Des Moines Roosevelt Wrestling team.
